In the name of God amen.

I, John Worsley, of the County of Duplin, State of North Carolina, sick in body but of perfect sound mind and memory, thanks to God for it, and calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament.

First of all I recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the decision of my Executors which I shall here after appoint.


I leave to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Worsley during her lifetime one Negro man named Jesse and five cows and calves, one bed and furniture, five pounds in gold, and one mare, saddle & bridle and at her death or marriage to be given to my daughter Charlotte Worsley to she and her heirs forever.


Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Charlotte Worsley five Negro slaves named Hannah, Jo and Prince, Dave, Daniel and five pounds in money to she and her heirs forever to be paid in gold and one bay mare with two wheel jut.


Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson William Worsley all the land that I possess on the North side of Panthur Swamp in Duplin county and fifteen cows and calves and one hundred silver dollars to him and his heirs for ever and one Negro slave named Toney.


Item. I give and bequeath unto my grandson Pitman Worsley all the land and premises that I possess on the South side of Panthur Swamp whereon I now live and one hundred silver dollars and one Negro man named Friday, one bed and furniture and fifteen cows and calves to him and his heirs for ever.


I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Wilkinson five pounds in money to she & her heirs.


I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Cherry five pounds in money to she & her heirs.


And the remains part of my estate to be sold and the money to be equally divided amongst my three daughters Sarah Wilkinson, Mary Cherry, and Charlotte Worsley.


Likewise I leave my Son in law Robart Cherry Loftis Worly executors to this my last will and testament in witness


Whereof I John Worsley have hereunto set my hand and seal - sign - seal and declared in the present of us this 30th day of August 1796.
